its truly unbelievable the immense multitude of hobbies and interests that exist across the globe, and how each person, every individual encountered in one's life, has at least one activity that constitutes almost the entirety of their free time. all it takes is a little investigation - be it face to face or via the web - to discover the extent of importance these passions have in the lives of their participants. search through blogs or profile on any social networking site and note the amount of people producing music, capturing the art among us through photography, writing poetic verses, constructing artistic craftwork, protecting endangered habitats, the list goes on. it just seems that there are so many incredible things going on around the world that seem unattainable or impractical that others manage to incorporate somewhat regularly into their lives. basically don't lose sight of those things that truly inspire you, that permit you to 'feel alive', and once you've discovered the what that gives you joy, hang on to it. incorporate it into your professional life. or maintain a professional life to support it (important here to appreciate one's occupation knowing that it provides, ultimately, for one's enjoyment. and focus on the positive elements of a less-than-ideal professional occupation). feel good about spending hard-earned money on your interests. and never think that your interests are something static - always be open to expansion. evolution is inevitable; cherish the original and discover what you love in the new. and understand that happiness can have just as much to do with one's attitude and mindset as with the seemingly uncontrollable events and situations that are life.
